((please make an Alliance character for this RP))
It began slowly.
Those who left Darkshire after dusk would disappear; weeks later, mutilated corpses began to turn up on the edges of town. All the victims had died of disembowelment; no other injuries were visible.
At first, the corpses were down-played ; fool-hardy citizens had no doubt fallen victim to the dark creatures that inhabited the woods around town. The pragmatic looked upon the events as a culling of the weak. A few even joked about the matter, claiming it would root out incompetence; soon Darkshire would be home to only the strong, the smart, the hardy. The jokes faded away as the deaths continued.
Frightened townsfolk swelled the ranks of the Nightwatch, volunteering for the chance to own a few standard-issue weapons. Despite the stricter guard set around town and precautions to be at home after nightfall, the bodies kept appearing. No one claimed responsibility. The poor suffered the most; squatting outside without any shelter, the homeless disappeared one by one. Within a month, the populace was reduced to a miserable, frightened lot. Loud noises made them jump; adventurers who had come to rid Duskwood of its undead plague were viewed with suspicion. The town was caught in the throes of mindless terror. And the attacks kept coming.
Some malevolent intelligence - never seen before - was organizing calculated assaults on the townsfolk. But no one was able to find out who - the murderer, or murderers, had not yet been caught...the mayor had ordered the burning of an old 'witch', but even after her death the killings continued. No one stepped forward to combat the evil; eventually the town dwindled. Buildings were left abandoned; the watch patrolled a smaller area as each day passed, leaving the outer edges of town to the encroaching undead.
((have your character start in or around Darkshire, at the town hall would be a nice place..i will be controlling NPCs and Mering, a human rogue. I'll just use her to nudge things in the right direction if needed..mostly Mering will be in the background))

Mering leaned idly against the Town Hall in Darkshire, surreptitiously obscuring the WANTED posters behind her. She glanced around. No one was watching. Swiftly one of her hands darted up and ripped a poster from the wall.
WANTED: Human thief who goes by the name of Mary, height of about 5' 5'' and short-cut brown hair. Armed and dangerous, wanted for stealing from the good citizens of Sentinel Hill.
Mering regarded the poster with some disappointment. They'd gotten her name wrong, and even fallen for her dyed hair. She flipped a lock of blond hair over her shoulder, grinning impishly. Then, she placed the poster carefully in her knapsack, along with the four others she had picked up.
"Girly, wotcher think yer playin' at?" demanded a gruff voice. A watchman strode over, cudgel in hand.
"I-I was just lookin' here at the posters...ke-keepin' an eye out for evil, mister." Mering replied nervously, pitching her voice a few octaves above normal. She smiled foolishly. Thankfully she had taken precautions and secreted her wickedly serrated daggers in hidden compartments in her leather armor. She had nothing on her to mark her as evil, or a thief.
"'Nother fool who thinks she's got the guts to be an 'ero, eh?" the guard snorted, returning to his patrol.
Shrugging, the rogue stepped into the Town Hall. There was always money to be had from doing an odd job or two for the Mayor. Always ghouls or skeletons to be culled, or worgen to be put down...Mering looked distastefully at her callused hands. She hated getting them dirty.

Hmph....I hope this is a quick mission, I have Plagueland work to do..
Elizana thought to herself while she rode rather swiftly on her might Paladin Charger, Zaber. Her eyes merely half closed at the seriousness of the mission brought to her. Although she knows fully well of the undead situation involving the Duskwood region, the threat that poses down there seems a little more tame compared to more plentiful and greater threats northward.
However as a Paladin, her duty comes before self (despite in some instances that really urks her such as this), which is what brought her down here as she fully reaches towards the town of Darkshire admist the focused eyes of some of the townfolk upon seeing a Paladin along the way. That alone almost made her crack a smile beneath her rather serious face.
Elizana soon enough rode along towards the town hall and dismounted her noble stood, noticing some of the town folk and Night Watchmen watching her when she did. Her eyes filled with curiousity yet with focus.
"Let's see what the Mayor wants of me..."
With that being said, she heads towards the Town hall to speak with the mayor. Her eyes slightly noticing a small gnome heading there as well. Her suspicions increased a little as she wonders what would a gnome be doing in such a place like this.

(hope you don't mind shatterlune "What are you doing, girl?" A guard snapped at Amel. She turned around and gave a cold smile at the night watchman. Judging by how he clutched his sword, he was in no mode for games, but neither was the witch. "I'm here on official business with the mayor of this forsaken place. Let me by or my friend here will deal with you." An imp appeared from under here robes. The guard started cackling. "Your gonna have to do better 'en that to intimidate me, girl." "As you wish." Amel replied coldly. She channeled her magic, and a towering felguard appeared, looming over the terrified man. "Is that intimidating enough?" The demon shoved the man out of the way as Amel continued towards the town hall. All the strange activity that had been seen as of late had caught her interest. She did consider herself a connoisseur of the unnatural, and random, excessive deaths was about as unnatural as you could get so deep into alliance territory. Brushing back a strand of obsidian hair, the girl entered the town hall, not knowing what to expect. All she knew was that the mayor could point her to the dead center of activity in the area.

((of course i don't mind heh))
Mering sauntered into the hall, still glowing. Whether she admitted it or not, the rogue was flattered by the WANTED posters. Inaccurate and inconducive to her health, the posters nevertheless boosted the attention-seeker's self-esteem.
The Mayor was pacing in his office, hands clasped behind his back. He was a nervous-looking man, with gaunt features and thinning gray hair. There was not much to differentiate him from one of the countless undead wandering around the outskirts of Darkshire. Mering shook his limp hand firmly. It felt too cold and lifeless.
Skipping all the basics of polite conversation, the rogue demanded, "Got any jobs? I need cold, hard gold as soon as possible. Gotta get out of this cursed region."
The Mayor grumbled, "As if I hain't been tryin' ter git out for the last ten years. Whatever did I do for the gods to consign me to this wretched town? Ain't anyone asked me if I wanted to be trapped here. An' things just been getting worse. With the corpses lately, ye know the folk don't even trust me any more. They think i'm ineffectual ."
Mering puzzled out his real meaning, trampling through the forest of odd pronunciation and odder syntax.
"What corpses? The undead have always been a blight on the region. Nothing new, mister."
"Th-they've been creeping into our territory - into the very town itself! I can't spare enough guards for the whole of Darkshire since people have been dying in droves. The town square, inn, and townhall comprise the only safe zone left...and even it may go soon to the undead. You won't be able to find out the problem yourself. I reckon you oughta get yourself some friends and go investigate the southern edge of town. It's o'errun by worgen and ghouls, so be careful," the Mayor explained.
As the rogue considered the man's proposal, she sensed someone behind her - perhaps from the vibrations of the air. A sixth sense that Mering had relied on for ages. The rogue whirled on the balls of her feet, a hand darting under the folds of her cloak. She drew out her dagger, gazing nervously up at an enormous felguard.
"I d-don't want to shiv anyone," the rogue bluffed. "I'm just here to have a talk with the Mayor."

"So do I as I was sent from Stormwind to handle the job."
An another voice echoed not too far from the warlock and the seemingly young rogue. Elizana's eyes glanced at the felguard with an arched eyebrow but simply walked past it and its master, obviously it would seem that she has some experience with such creatures before. Walking calmly, she has appeared before the group and the mayor with a more focused aura. A stark contrast to the rather chaotic aura she had felt of the warlock and the deceptive aura of the rogue.
"But I digress, if its undead hunting you require. Then, I am obviously specified for the job if you so require my services."
Only a small glance of the rogue did she realized that she looked rather familiar if only slightly. Something that a poster she had seen in Westfall had pointed out something that peaked her interest only slightly. But she then shook her head and only returned back towards the mayor.
It was only then she had felt a sense of evil approaching closer and closer to this town. Her sense undead ability growing in effectiveness as it tries to pinpoint the origin and direction that this threat is heading to. Nothing certain yet but clue popping out regardless, is leading her to something certain. Something even she has yet to see.

Suddenly, out of the blue came a shout. "We're under attack!"
Outside the mayor's, There stood a man in a dark cloak holding a staff with what seemed to be a glowing yellow crystal at the end. His entire head iwas completly hidden from everyone else. Alone, he stood before a large number of undead. "Foul beasts! Your massacres end here! I will send you back to the depths of hell!" As the Undead began the charge, The lone man began chanting and pillers began to rise up, unleashing power to attack his enemies. The lone man just gave away that he is a shaman.

Amel stepped into the room casually, noting both the paladin and rogue who glanced her felguard. "Thooghun, take a walk." She commanded. The demon gave no response but stepped outside. Amel smirked at the unpleasant demon.
Her attention shoot back to the business at hand. Her eyes fixated at the balding old mayor who was beside himself with stress. It seemed she wasn't the only one interested in the murders. "Well you two will have to wait then." She said coldly.
"Save me your people's pleasantries, mayor. I have little interest in shambling corpses, but my benefactors demand I study your town so I will be brief. Where and what are the origins of the the town's...dilemma."
"We're under attack!" A voice cried from outside. Amel cursed and called for her demon.
"Thooghun, go take care of that noise!"
"I...must obey." The demon replied angrily as it charged towards the source of the attack.

Mering addressed the warlock, glancing out the door nervously from time to time. "Well, the mayor needs a few to investigate the southern edge of town. We gotta find whoever is organizing and controlling all the undead," she explained, the words tumbling out of her mouth in a rush.
The rogue slunk into the shadows, making her way outside. She disappeared from view, clinging to patches of darkness and moving silently. She dispatched an undead with graceful ease, stabbing the ghoul repeatedly in the back. It never turned around; it was concentrated on the shaman for some odd reason.

The road through the Duskwood from Raven's Hill had been long and dark--and nerve wracking. By the time Celune saw the roofs of Darkshire showing faintly through the perpetual mist that seemed to shroud the woods, she was so tense she thought she might snap at the slightest provocation. Asfor, on the other hand, seemed not disturbed in the slightest. He walked solidly on, his great hooves stirring hardly any dust in the road and the slight weight of his rider seeming to bother him not in the least.
"Y-you are disgustingly b-blase about all t-this," she said to the great war-horse, who only flicked his speckled ears in response as if to say, "Lighten up, miss."
As they approached Darkshire the sounds of combat became audible, floating through the air towards them in an erie cacophany. "L-let's go," Celune said grimly to Asfor, unshouldering her staff and tugging at her crimson hood to settle it more firmly in place. "W-we may be able to b-be of service t-to these people."
Asfor broke into a willing canter and the two rounded the last bend to see the melee before them--a veritable horde of undead was locked in battle with the townsfolk--Nightwatch and several people who looked like mercenaries struggle against the unfeeling foes. Celune began to cast, her eyes going flat as she called the frost magic to her. Asfor, heedless to the fact that he carried a rather vulnerable magic-user on his back, plunged into the maelstrom with a fierce scream of delight, striking out with his hooves and seizing any creature unfortunate enough to come within the range of his teeth.
"A-Asfor!" Celune cried, checking as the spell she had been about to cast became both useless and dangerous at such close range. "Y-you battle-crazed F-FOOL!" Quickly she changed tactics, allowing a blast of ice and freezing air to explode out in a radius around them, hoping to lock as many of the shambling, rotting creatures as she could in the debilitating ice.

That faint instance of an insult that the warlock said as an acknowledgment for the two whom had arrived here before she did made Elizana arch an very annoyed eyebrow. This alone made her reply with her eyes closed towards the bony like woman in turn.
"Your benefactors will to have to wait, you can study whatever's out there once I leave out all the undead corpses for you and save this town. Furthermore...."
"We're under attack!"
"....that will have to wait."
Elizana said in sudden response towards the situation happening just outside of the town hall. Prompting herself in a fast sprint, she ran towards some of the undead already approaching towards the town hall entrance with her powerful one handed sword now unsheathed.
"In the name of the Silver Hand! I strike at thee!"
She soon lunged out and swung out her sword, beheading a couple that were closest to her before approaching an another group of undead. Releasing the buckle of her shoulder strap to release her shield, she then equips it in readiness for the fight. Soon enough she fired off a continuous beam of an exorcism spell upon the group, burning them into holy ash.
But it became obvious that the undead weren't fighting back as they should be. Even undead are not as weak as these, then at an instant. She noticed the shaman defending himself against some rather aggressive undead. It is as if they want him and not the people of this town it seems. Now more questions lingered in her mind such as why do they want him and who exactly is behind this plot in the first place.
But she will save those questions for later, bringing herself solely on concentrating in defeating any of the undead that are nearest to her and the townsfolk.

The Shaman did the best he could as he summoned more totem poles to repel the undead. As more help arrives, he began growing more confidence that victory was at hand. When out of the blue...
-THWACK-
The shaman was stumbling, losing focus as he saw an arrow impaled through his chest, Luckily it missed his heart, but the damage was still severe. But he still wasn't ready to fall and let the undead win. "I won't....quit....that easy. If I'm... going to die... I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!" he shouted still wheezing as he summoned more poles and struck down any enemy that gets close with his staff.

Amel took her time entering the fray of the battle, knowing her demon could do more damage to the undead than her curses. Still, it didn't hurt to study the abominations in action.
She stepped out of the building and began chanting under her breath, summoning the full force of her fel magics. A couple of the advancing undead began to burst into green flames. Fel fires seared flesh and bone, reducing the attackers to ash. A strange man had caught the focus of most of the undead. "He might know something." She muttered.
"Thooghun, Get that man out of harms way. If he dies, so do you." She ordered. The demon ran over to shield the injured Shaman from harm. The felguard aided the man in slaughtering the nearby undead.
Amel stood at the edge of the conflict, lighting up more corpses as they neared.

Mering made her way stealthily over to the shaman, catching her breath. She had to get him out of the fray. She clung to the shadows with the skill of a well-trained thief. Timing the move expertly, she leapt into view and slid under one of the man's arms, holding him up. Blood was streaming from a wound on his chest, coloring the shaft of the protruding arrow a slick red.
"Let's get you into Town Hall," Mering hissed, half-pulling, half-dragging the shaman.
((let me know if he wants to leave or not..i don't want to god mode..sorry for shortness))

(Well, he is still in development. I was going to make him a night elf, but I found out the hard way that out of the classes the Night elves had, Shaman isn't one of them. Is it still possible to make a night elf Shaman, or should I pick a Draenei?)
The Shaman tried to resist, though he appreciated the offer for Mering's hospitality. "No....I can't....I-" With all the effort he made in talking, it only made him stumble. Seeing that he was in no condition to fight, he had to accept it. "Thank you...."

((Sorry it took me so long to respond...))
Celune took advantage of her position in the center of the grisly melee, striking out with the razor-sharp ice magic and punctuating the battle with bright explosions of arcane power. THe magic tore through the creatures, felling them as effectively as a blow from a warrior's axe. She fought on until there were no more of the things moving within her reach, and she looked blankly around for more, her mana reserves wavering.

As the Shaman was being carried away inside, he made sure to put up totem poles by the door so that it was well protected, at least for a while...
"Thoes beasts, that was only the beginning..." he growled as he was taken to safety.

Mering half-tossed, half-dropped him on the floor unceremoniously, with all the grace one might afford a sack of potatoes. Her stringy muscles screamed from the effort of carrying the shaman out of the fray. Gulping in the warm, spiced air of the inn, the rogue glanced nervously out a dusty window.
"Doesn' look like any others are coming," she said quietly, sighing in relief. Now, she turned her icy gaze on the draenei.
"I'd like to know, sir, why those things are following you? They're all hankering after your flesh and no one else's."

The Shaman lifted himself up with his, not pleased with how Mering practically dropped him on the floor. He then moved to a chair and sat down, gawking at the arrow in his chest. He pulled it out and held his cloak against his chest to hold back the bleeding. "It was my fault, they were the ones who followed me. But what you saw out there was only a fraction. There will be more comming..." The Shaman out of the blue began coughing up blood.
